Reflexology is an holistic healing technique based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that correspond to every part, organ and gland of the body.
In Reflexology the feet are seen as reflected images of the body.
The practice of Reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt, India and China. It was introduced to the West by Dr W.Fitzgerald as 'Zone Therapy'.
In the 1930's E.Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is known as Reflexology.
She found that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.
The treatment consist of a combination of general relaxation techniques, followed by precise thumb and finger walking techniques aimed at applying pressure to every reflex on top and under each foot.
The feet have 7000 nerve ending which feed back information to the spinal cord and brain. Stimulating these nerves ending brings about the relaxation response and allow the ideal environment for positive changes to take place.
